I have finally finished the last commission, and have decided this year, there is a good chance I will not open commissions as a new project has taken a hold of my creative heart. This is the commission I was working on, and since it is now at the home of the recipient, and they know what they are getting, I can post photos.
I’m quite proud of this, even though I know nothing of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series.

The person who ordered it originally was very pleased with how it turned out. I like it too. I’m now seriously thinking about finding and reading the books LOL!
In other news, I’m working on a new project. Something to use up all my yarn, so I can start fresh. I’m putting together a blanket, so far it’s working well, and eating a lot of yarn. So yay! The texture is nice and squishy, and should keep these bones nice and warm in the winter. I’m trying to make it like a patchwork quilt, like grandmothers had on their beds when we were kids. Hopefully I will have news about the design soon.
The reason why I’m working so hard to get clear of my yarn stash, is I have a spinning wheel, and a couple of drop spindles now. I also have around 20 or so pounds of raw romney wool, 4 pounds of processed Jacob wool, and a bunch of other little stashes of various wools in different colours. I think most of them are BFL.
My goal this year is to spin and dye my own yarn. And actually make things with it. Since I also belong to a medieval recreation group, there is a big part of me who wants to learn how spinning started, how it evolved over the years, and what people were able to do with it. At the very least, it will be a personal research project, at the most – if I become brave enough – I want to enter it into the large group competition, so I can be steered in the direction of more information.
Once I figure out how to make another page attached to this website, I’ll add a link here.
Have a good day everyone, stay safe, stay healthy, wear a mask and wash your hands! ❤
